What’s In My Salve? Top 5 Ingredients For Healthy Skin

Greetings, friends! We have something to discuss. It’s about the Green Lotus™ Premium Hemp Oil Salve — shortened for your reading convenience. (This is a joke to point out that the name is very long.)

What do we mean when we say “Premium?” Well, for one, we’re talking about the quality of our hemp oil: that it’s sourced from certified-organic hemp, extracted in state of the art facilities and five-panel tested for safety and purity. Our hemp oil is premium.

For a moment, let’s just take out the cannabinoids. No more hemp oil. What’s left?

 A top-of-the-line cosmetic.

When you use our Premium Hemp Oil Salve, you’re getting a lot more than cannabinoids. Green Lotus’ two formulators have a combined forty years of experience in the cosmetic and nutraceutical industries. With that expertise, we deliver a lotion that soothes, moisturizes and supports strong, healthy skin.

Then we add 250 milligrams of naturally-occurring cannabinoids to top it off.

So that’s what we mean when we say “premium.” Now, let’s get into specifics.

Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice: Moisturizer and Skin Protectant

“Aloe barbadensis” is an alternative way to say “Aloe vera.” For our purposes, we can think of our Aloe barbadensis leaf juice as the essence of Aloe vera. It’s a potent mixture of:

  • Vitamins B12, C, E and A (beta-carotene).
  • Anti-inflammatory enzymes.
  • Minerals (calcium, magnesium, potassium).
  • Fatty acids.
  • 20 of the 22 human amino acids and 7 essential amino acids.¹

For thousands of years, Aloe vera has been used by geographically dispersed groups, from the Greeks to Egyptians, to treat wounds, moisturize skin and soothe burns. Aloe vera spans cultures and transcends time.

In the present day, Aloe barbadensis leaf juice and Aloe vera are used to soothe sunburns and restore dry skin to supple, healthy skin. These uses may rest on the extract’s ability to stimulate the production of collagen, which contributes to maintaining skin elasticity.²

In the case of Aloe bardadensis juice, as with most plant-based remedies, more clinical trials are needed to confirm anecdotal reports. But Aloe barbadensis is Mom’s cure for sunburns, and mothers are rarely wrong in these matters.

Why We Chose Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice

Our formulators selected Aloe barbadensis leaf juice for its superior performance as a natural moisturizer. Aloe is a must-have for any high-quality lotion.

gotu kola, asiatic pennywort, centella asiatica, green lotus hemp cbd

Centella Asiatica Extract (Gotu Kola)

Similar to Aloe barbadensis, Centella Asiatica L. enjoys a long history in Eastern medicine, where the plant was used to strengthen skin, promote healthy circulation and balance the body’s inflammatory responses, particularly in response to minor scratches and burns.

Known popularly as Gotu kola or Tiger Grass, Centella Asiatica L. has become a staple in high-quality anti-aging³ skin formulas, and may support healthy skin against the accumulation of cellulite.⁴

Why We Chose Centella Asiatica Extract

Centella Asiatica’s chemical profile is impressive. The extract is rich in amino acids, antioxidants, fatty acids and Vitamin A (beta-carotene).

In our Premium Hemp Oil Salve, Centella Asiatica extract fulfills two purposes — to reinforce healthy skin and combat signs of aging. Earlier, we mentioned Centella Asiatica extract’s ability to reduce cellulite. This function is made possible by the extract’s support of healthy circulation in skin tissue.

With such a wide range of benefits, Centella Asiatica extract was chosen as a prime component by our formulators. It just works.

Jojoba oil, leaves, flower and seeds, green lotus hemp, cbd, salve

Jojoba Oil

It’s ho ho ba. The Jojoba (aka Simmondsia Chinensis)  is a shrub found in arid and semiarid environments throughout the southern United States and northern Mexico.⁵

For centuries, indigenous peoples have used the shrub’s extract as a remedy for minor wounds, rashes, sores and other skin conditions.

Why We Chose Jojoba Oil

Today, Jojoba oil has become a staple in high-end cosmetic products, added to skin creams to improve skin tone and moisturize.

How does it work?

Jojoba oil is a “humectant” — a nanostructured lipid that creates a protective barrier over the skin. This helps to retain moisture and support the appearance of healthy skin.⁶

Our formulators chose Jojoba oil for its soothing, moisturizing properties, and also the oil’s use as a support for healthy inflammatory⁷ response.

White Waterlily, Water Rose or Nenuphar, Nymphaea alba, flower, green lotus hemp, cbd, salve

Nymphaea Alba Flower Extract

Nymphaea alba, commonly known as the White Water Lily, produces an extract that is rich in alkaloids, tannins, saponins and polysaccharides.⁸ The combined effect of the flower’s extract is used for:

  • Irritated skin
  • Rash and Redness
  • Dry skin

Why We Chose Nymphaea Alba Flower Extract

Nymphaea alba flower extract is a key ingredient in Sepicalm™ S, a preservative-free, proprietary formula that is specially designed for sensitive skin.

Seppic, Green Lotus™ partner and the company behind Sepicalm™ S, has conducted controlled trials which suggest that Sepicalm™ S affects the positive production of cytokines and boosts beta-endorphin production. (Beta-endorphins help to maintain a sense of calm.)

What does it all mean?

Well, the simple way to explain it is to say that, as part of Sepicalm™ S, Nymphaea alba flower extract aids in healthy inflammatory response, supports skin health, moisturizes and calms. The extract is also packed with antioxidants and amino acids.

grapefruit oil, green lotus hemp, cbd, salve

Citrus Grandis Peel Oil

Our Premium Hemp Oil Salve smells delicious, like a freshly sliced grapefruit. That’s because we use oil pressed from the rind of Citrus Grandis, commonly known as the grapefruit.

Why We Chose Citrus Grandis Peel Oil

It’s about more than the scent. Citrus grandis peel oil contains essential oils like limonene and is rich in phytonutrients like vitamin C and E, polyphenols and flavonoids. Collectively, these natural oils, vitamins and metabolites offer a potent source of antioxidants.

Our Premium Hemp Oil Salve leverages the power of antioxidants to fight the formation of free radicals, restore skin vitality and diminish signs of aging.
