What’s In My Restore? Ingredients + Benefits

If you’ve come to this blog, you’re probably curious about what Restore is, how it works and why it’s special.
Here’s the quick version:
Restore is our brand new, two-in-one hemp oil topical with 100 mg of naturally occurring full spectrum molecules. It’s paraben free and sourced from organically grown hemp.

Restore: An Experience in Words
Restore has a “lighter” feel than our Heat or Freeze topicals. That’s surprising because Restore is designed to lock-in moisture and relieve irritation, so you’d think it would be thick. Still light.
Restore shares some ingredients and features with Salve. The texture is similar: gentle, silky and non-greasy. It’s protective, but goes on easy and doesn’t linger.
For the olfactory, expect Green Lotus’ signature grapefruit peel scent, but expressed in a way that’s a little more sophisticated. It’s hard to detect Restore’s added menthol, so overall it’s “light grapefruit.”
Beta-Glucan: A New, Natural Skin-Soother
Found in bacteria, fungi and plants, beta-glucans are polysaccharides that work to hydrate and soothe irritated skin.
Beta-glucans gained traction in the world of skincare after multiple studies suggested that they increase the production of collagen, a crucial aspect of skin repair.
Why Beta-Glucan?
Can beta-glucans heal wounds? For us, that’s beside the point.
Beta-glucan is an active hydrating ingredient that locks in moisture and helps soothe minor skin issues like cracked or irritated skin.1

Glyceryl Oleate: A Powerful Emollient and Emulsifier
Glyceryl oleate excels at two things which are good for skin: It’s a skin-conditioning agent (an emollient) and an emulsifier.
What is an emollient?
“Emollient” is a large word for a substance that prevents your skin from drying out.
Glyceryl oleate is an emollient. It forms a protective layer over your skin to lock-in moisture and leave your skin feeling soft and smooth.
Glyceryl oleate is an emulsifier, too. What is an emulsifier?
Think about a banana. Put that banana in a blender. The banana is emulsified, and the blender is the emulsifier.
Now imagine that tiny ingredients are being ground-up in a similar way to the banana. It’s easier for them to pass through the skin when they are even smaller. That’s how glyceryl oleate helps other ingredients get through the skin and be more effective.
Why Glyceryl Oleate?
Glyceryl oleate simultaneously conditions your skin and allows for other beneficial ingredients to pass through your skin.2
Enough said, we think.
Bisabolol: Another Powerful Emollient.
It’s ba-sab-o-loll.
Bisabolol is a fragrant terpene that can be extracted from both cannabis and chamomile. In skincare, bisabolol is versatile.
Like glyceryl oleate, bisabolol can improve the absorption of other ingredients in a formula and moisturize the skin as an emollient.
But glyceryl oleate and bisabolol moisturize in different ways, and that’s what makes them powerful partners.
Glyceryl oleate is an occlusive emollient. It traps water droplets so that water cannot escape and leave your skin dry.
Bisabolol is a humectant emollient. The molecules in bisabolol attract and retain water droplets. That means when you put bisabolol on your skin, your skin attracts water and becomes hydrated.
Why Bisabolol?
Bisabolol keeps your skin hydrated and aids in promoting healthy skin. It’s a perfect complement to glyceryl oleate, and it’s packed with beneficial antioxidants.
Tocopherol: All Vitamin E. Pure Antioxidant Power.
Regular vitamin E supplementation helps fight the formation of free radicals, and tocopherol is vitamin E in its natural, purest and most abundant form.
Why care about free radicals? For most people, “free radicals” is just a term.
But the truth is serious. Too many free radicals have the potential to cause mutations, and cellular mutations have been linked to serious illnesses.
Does that mean you have to supplement with vitamin E? No, it doesn’t. The science around free radicals and oxidative stress is complex and evolving.
Why Tocopherol?
But we do know that a proper balance of oxidants and antioxidants is a good idea for general health and wellness, for your skin and your long-term health.
Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice: It’s Aloe Vera.
Aloe barbadensis leaf juice is aloe vera. Aloe vera is aloe barbadensis leaf juice.
Both names describe a plant that has been used for cosmetic and medicinal purposes for thousands of years and works just as well today.
In a study conducted to test the effectiveness of an aloe vera extract cream, the aloe vera extract cream successfully treated 328/396 patients, while the placebo cream treated 28/366 patients.3
These findings suggest that topically applied aloe vera extract is more effective than placebo treatment.
Why Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice?
